Physician Bio
Bingham Healthcare is proud to welcome Shawn B. Ostler, MD, to our emergency department team.
After taking a paramedic course in college and working some shifts at a local hospital, Dr. Ostler’s interest in medicine grew from a desire to help the community and people. “Now I have the opportunity to see and treat people on a daily basis, which is so gratifying,” says Dr. Ostler. He also likes working in the emergency room because it requires teamwork—relying on nurses and other specialists—which, he says, is such an important part of medicine.
Dr. Ostler’s approach to medicine is driven by a desire to ensure his patients are always fully aware of what is going on. He strives to keep his patients informed of their condition and all available treatment options.
When he’s not practicing medicine, Dr. Ostler enjoys staying active with his wife, three children, and two dogs: a boxer/German shepherd mix and a Queensland heeler mix. As a family, they love playing board and card games, camping, and hiking, and Dr. Ostler’s hobbies include woodworking and fly fishing.
Professional Credentials
- Earned a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Brigham Young University
- A graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee
- Served his residency in emergency medicine at Maricopa Integrated Health Services in Phoenix, Arizona
- Currently a member of the Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association and the American College of Emergency Physicians
